This Sunday John Loftness will be preaching from Ephesians 2:11-22.
John is the senior pastor of Solid Rock Church in Riverdale, Md. After 25 years as a pastor here at Covenant Life, John accepted the call in July 2007 to lead Solid Rock.
John, we’ve missed you and are grateful to hear the church is thriving under your leadership. It will be great to have you back this Sunday.

Ephesians, Part 5: Application

Yesterday Robin Boisvert preached a message from Ephesians 2:1-10 titled, “Our Salvation: Changed from Death to Life,” in which he considered “what we were, what God has done, and how he did it.”
You can listen online or download the message here.
And here are some application questions, prepared by pastor Brian Chesemore:
1. Robin shared how we need to be re-educated by God’s perspective on our sin in order to appreciate our need for mercy. How does Paul accomplish this in the first three verses?
2. In verse 4, Paul highlights a most amazing turn in Scripture. What has happened that Paul can so quickly turn from the wrath of God to the grace of God?
3.What does it mean that we are in union with Christ? Why is this union so amazing?
4. How can you seize an opportunity this week in your job or relationships to testify to the mercy and grace of God in your life?

Sunday Preview: Ephesians, Part 5

Thanks, everybody, for all the anniversary congrats and well-wishes. Shannon and I had a wonderful time in Florida this week.
I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday. Ken Boer will be leading our time of singing and Robin Boisvert will be preaching from Ephesians 2:1-10 on our salvation through Christ.
This will also be the first of three Sundays in a row in which we will be showing a video that is part of the Sovereign Grace Ministries mission presentation. In years past, we have taken one Sunday to show a longer mission presentation, but this year it will be broken up into three shorter videos over three Sundays, and we’ll be taking the Mission Fund offering on the third Sunday, October 19. For this Sunday, I’m excited for us all to see what God is doing through our partners in the gospel in Germany.
