First ‘Good News Club’ Was a Success
0 Comments..

Starting this fall, Covenant Life volunteers hope to host year-long “Good News Clubs” at several public schools in our area. If you and your family would like to get in on the excitement, please join us for a Good News Club Information Meeting on Sunday, June 27, from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. in Room 155.
Here’s a report on Covenant Life’s first Good News Club:
For six weeks this spring, Covenant Life Church had the joy of hosting a club at a nearby elementary school. Over 15 students participated in this after-school program, enthusiastically singing about Jesus and learning from the Bible. Pastors Mike Bradshaw, Joe Lee, and Ben Wikner shared in the teaching, while Charlene Vigil, Becky Faherty, and Suzy Somerville provided world-class administrative support. Several Covenant Life teens served by befriending the club members and helping to lead singing.
The club met after school on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:45. At each meeting club members received a snack, memorized Scripture, heard the gospel repeatedly during times of teaching and singing, were inspired by missionary stories, and had a chance to speak one-on-one with an adult if they had questions. Prizes and goodie bags made the whole experience a little sweeter.
Good News Clubs are a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship, which has served children in hundreds of countries around the world since 1937. A few other churches in Montgomery County have been successfully hosting Good News Clubs for years; the club held recently was Covenant Life’s first venture into this exciting form of community outreach. But there is almost unlimited potential for expansion.
After the final club meeting on June 9, a grateful parent handed one of the club leaders this note: “I cannot express enough thanks for all you instilled in my son. Unfortunately, we stopped going to church and being strengthened by the Word shortly after he was born, and although I try to show or express to him how awesome our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is, he lets me know he’s still not sure if he believes. I feel assured that Jesus has sent His servants from your church to speak the Word of God to him and plant the seed. Praise His Holy Name!”

Bob Donohue: The Realization of Righteous
0 Comments..
On Sunday Bob Donohue addressed us from Psalm 119:137-144. Bob is the senior pastor of our sister church, Grace Community Church, in Ashburn, Va.
Here are options for reviewing and applying the message:
• Listen online or download an MP3.
• Download the summary outline (in PDF format).
• Use the questions below for further reflection and application to your life:
1. Psalm 119:137 declares that the Lord is righteous. Take time to meditate on what that means. What examples from Scripture show the justice, truthfulness, faithfulness and righteousness of God and his ways?
2. Why is it critical for the Christian to believe that God never errs? How will a firm belief in God’s right ways protect you when you walk through suffering?
3. Why is God’s righteousness “bad news” for those separated from God?
4. Review 2 Corinthians 5:21. What does this verse teach us about the exchange of righteousness God made at Calvary? What did Christ take? What did we receive? What does this mean for our standing before God? Why should this verse provide great peace and joy for us?
5. The Psalmist defends, depends upon, and delights in the Scriptures. How do we know this from the text? Who has been an example of any one of these characteristics to you? In which of these three areas do you most want and need to grow?

Dave Harvey: The Quest for Contentment
0 Comments..
Yesterday, we were blessed to have pastor and author Dave Harvey bring us God’s Word from Philippians 4:11-13. Dave has served as a member of the Sovereign Grace Ministries leadership team since 1995 and is responsible for church care, church planting, and international expansion.
Here are options for reviewing and applying the message:
• Listen online or download an MP3.
• Download the summary outline (in PDF format).
• Use the questions below for further reflection and application to your life:
1. In Philippians 4:13, Paul assured the Church that he had “learned to be content.” How does this theme of contentment complement Paul’s burden from the previous chapter, especially seen in 3:14?
2. Dave likened Paul’s experience to two end zones surrounding the field of contentment. Where are you facing the end zones of either “times of prosperity” or “times of difficulty”?
3. What has been the fruit of prosperity in your life? How are you, like Paul, learning to look to God when he blesses you with abundance?
4. What has been the fruit of adversity in your life? How are you, like Paul, learning how to trust God when he brings you low?
5. Who does Paul identify as the source of his strength in life (vs. 13)? How does the work of Christ on the cross correct and re-shape our thinking about what we deserve? What steps can you take this week to cultivate a deeper relationship and joy in Christ?
6. Time take in your care group to pray, giving thanks to God for the riches we have in Christ. Encourage the group to declare to God their desire to learn contentment, in plenty and in want.

Jared Mellinger Preaches Here On June 20
0 Comments..

What will Covenant Life Church be like 25 years from now? 50 years? How often do you think about the work that God is doing across time and generations? Do you believe your commitment to the church extends beyond your own lifetime? What does it mean to participate in a purposeful transfer of the gospel to those who will come after you?
Jared Mellinger comes to Covenant Life on Sunday, June 20, to remind us that we are part of something far bigger than ourselves. Preaching from Psalm 78: 1-8, Jared will lay out a picture of the good news of God’s salvation being successfully passed from generation to generation. He’ll help us to step back and take in the truth that everyone has a part to play—that God is calling each of us to display his heart for those who will follow us.
Jared Mellinger is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Fellowship Church in Glen Mills, Pa. He joined the church’s pastoral team in 2006 after graduating from the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors College. He assumed the role of senior pastor on October 12, 2008. Jared graduated from Kutztown University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. He lives in Glen Mills with his wife Meghan and their four children.
