Words of Care and Comfort for the Harris Family
58 Comments..

Dear Covenant Life family,
On July 4 our senior pastor suffered the loss of his mother, Sono Harris, to cancer. We have all experienced the fruit of her life through Joshua’s ministry.
Joshua and his family are grieving, but with great hope (1 Thess. 4:13-18). They know there will be a day of great joy when they will be reunited in him.
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the father of mercies and the God of all comfort (2 Cor. 1:3), and I know we are all praying that he will comfort and be near the Harris family this coming weekend, and in the days ahead.
But the pastors wanted to create a place where Josh could hear words of care and comfort from his Covenant Life family. This is that place. Please feel free to share your prayers and expressions of gratefulness to Josh and the Harris family by leaving a comment. To do so, click on the word “Comments” at the top of this post.
Thank you for your partnership in the gospel, for your prayers, and for your expressions of care toward Josh and his family.
On behalf of the pastors,

Production Teams Open Houses

The Production Teams of Covenant Life invite you to a behind-the-scenes look at how we use technology to support Sunday services. Experience a weekend of sound, lighting, and video production at one of our open houses on July 10-11 or July 31-Aug. 1.
Anyone interested in advancing the gospel through technology is welcome to come. We want to particularly invite those that have a background in music, computers, video, or photography to experience how their gifts could promote God’s kingdom.

Living Hope, Part 9
0 Comments..
Josh resumed our series on the book of 1 Peter yesterday with a message titled, “A Word to Wives.” He preached from 1 Peter 3:1-7, in which the apostle Peter instructs wives on the issues of authority and submission from God’s perspective, and the “adornment” that catches God’s eye.
Here are options for reviewing and applying the message:
• Listen online or download an MP3.
• Download the summary outline (in PDF format).
• Use the questions below for further reflection and application to your life:
1. Josh drew our attention to pure conduct in the midst of unjust suffering (1 Peter 2:11-25). How do you typically respond when you are treated unfairly, when you are misunderstood or wrongly judged?
2. When treated unjustly or inconsiderately, how does entrusting yourself to God enable you to keep a quiet spirit and to glorify God in your conduct?
3. Wives, what did 1 Peter 3:1-6 teach you about the “honorable conduct” and “good deeds” (1 Peter 2:12) God calls you to in your marriage?
4. Wives, what aspects of submission are difficult for you? What is one area of submission in which you can begin to pursue God’s grace for growth and change?
5. Josh stated, “Clothing and style catch the eye of the world, but a quiet heart catches the eye of God.” In what ways do you see a preoccupation with clothing, style and outward adornment in your life? Why is the “imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit” (1 Peter 3:3) so much better for the believing wife?

Clothing Drive for Rancho 3M
4 Comments..

Remember back in March when the Youth Ministry sold donuts in the church lobby on Sundays? Well, that was to help cover expenses for a clothing drive to bless the children of Rancho 3M, the orphanage in Guadalupe, Mexico, that Covenant Life has the privilege of supporting. And the drive is almost here—it takes place July 9-11.
The collection point will be the church’s Main Lobby starting Friday night, going all day Saturday, and Sunday after the second service. Here’s the scoop if you’d like to participate:
• Please bring clothes for kids ages 2-18.
• The goal is to collect nice, newer clothing, socks, and shoes that will bless the children. So, no clothes with stains, rips, holes, etc. The newer and nicer, the better.
• If you don’t have clothes to give but would still like to participate, Rancho3M needs a lot of toiletries. You may donate toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap bars and laundry detergent.
• No toys, please.
• To clarify: this drive is not specifically for the baby orphanage as it has not yet been completed. It is for the children who are currently at Rancho 3M.
The lobby will be open and staffed to receive clothing and toiletries during the following hours:
Friday, July 9 | 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday, July 10 | 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday, July 11 | 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The youth have raised enough money to pay for transporting all the donated goods to Mexico. Dave Brewer and a small team of people will be driving a U-Haul truck loaded with all of the clothes and toiletries down to El Paso, starting Monday, the 12th.
Thank you in advance for your generous support of the clothing drive and for loving the kids of Rancho 3M in the name of Jesus.
