About 130 members gathered in the Edwards Room for two hours on Saturday to brainstorm ideas for improving and enhancing care groups. Beth Hill facilitated, and 13 table leaders took notes as members presented their detailed (and often creative!) thoughts, ideas and suggestions on various aspects of care group life. A team led by Isaac Hydoski will use this data in addition to research, study, and further discussion to help evaluate the care group ministry at Covenant Life and propose a renewed vision. Members had wide-ranging dialogue on topics like:
• How should care groups be structured?
• How should people get connected with a care group?
• Purpose and vision
• Elements and emphases: worship, meeting content, community, counseling, evangelism, prayer, and spiritual gifts
• Roles: Pastors, Leaders and Assistants
• What has and hasn’t worked in the past
Note from Isaac: “By God’s grace we had a broad cross section of members present so we could benefit from their varied perspectives, experiences and ideas. Every pastoral sphere in the church was represented. We were super encouraged by the turn out, the comments and feedback, as both represent the very real partnership that we share together as fellow members of Covenant Life Church. We’ll be prayerfully evaluating the ideas and comments and seeking to incorporate this invaluable feedback as work progresses.
From Kenneth Maresco: “The room was filled with a sense of genuine partnership and excitement. Thanks to Beth Hill who facilitated, and thank you to all of our members who made time to participate in this important conversation. The experiences, desires and perspectives of our members will help us in this important part of our life together.”
