‘I Knew I Was Powerless…’
2 CommentsAmanda Darby was baptized in the first service this Sunday (Easter) and was kind enough, in both services, to tell how she came to know Christ. Thank you, Amanda, for faithfully testifying about what God has done in your life and for allowing us to share it here for a wider audience.

Story With Two Happy Endings
1 CommentsI want to highlight another reason why it felt like “German Sunday” here this past weekend. If you’ve been following the blog this week or you attended one of the meetings, this will make sense.
In addition to having Wolfgang Wegert preach, we heard the testimony of a young German man, Patrick Gleichmann. Patrick came to work here in Gaithersburg, was invited to Covenant Life by a co-worker, attended Alpha (now called “Introducing God,” a class that introduces guests to the Christian faith), trusted Christ for his salvation and joined the church. It’s a great story of God’s saving grace. (And that co-worker, by the way, ended up becoming Patrick’s wife!)
The video shows Patrick sharing his testimony and then being baptized. (He was baptized in the first service, but gave his testimony in both services.)

Wolfgang’s Testimony
0 CommentsOn Sunday Wolfgang Wegert told the story of his conversion as a teenager at his dying father’s bedside. It’s a moving story that I wanted to share with you here.
See two earlier posts on this blog to read more about Wolfgang’s message and the background behind his visit.

“Me Only” Moments
0 CommentsIn this brief excerpt from the message he gave last Sunday, Chris Silard looks at what happens when we suffer from a “me only” attitude—when, in his words, “we are so busy with all of our own stuff that we don’t think we can serve others or we fail to even notice their needs.” The passage Chris reads is from the book, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, by Paul Tripp.

When You Have Angry Words…
1 CommentsDuring his sermon this past Sunday, Mike Bradshaw showed a home video clip of his daughter, Caly, reciting how she has been trained to respond when she is tempted to use angry words. The response her dad and mom have taught her goes like this:
Cover your mouth.
Be quiet, and be still.
Take your hands down, and use respectful words like, “Please, may I have it?”
A pretty helpful picture, isn’t it? So, how do you put off angry words?
