Tomorrow I will preach the first message of a two-part series, The Good Recession.
Bob Kauflin will be leading our time of singing. We’ll also have the chance to pray for the team leaving for Uganda next week.

Welcoming Guests in Jesus’ Name

Here’s a snapshot of Justi and Jordan Thomas taken at a recent Guest Reception in the Spurgeon Room. They have both served with the Guest Reception team for the last four years, and Jordan has led the team for the past year. Justi says: “We are humbled to be a guest’s first encounter with a member of Covenant Life. We consider it an honor to serve God by extending hospitality to those who are visiting our church, and our desire is for guests to experience a taste of God’s love and care.”
Jordan and Justi, and all those who serve on the Guest Reception team, thank you for representing our church and the love of Christ by showing hospitality to those God brings through our doors each Sunday.
For this coming Sunday, Robin Boisvert will be preaching our third and final message in the Incarnation series, from John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Bob Kauflin will lead our time of singing. I’m looking forward to singing great Christmas songs like “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Glory Be to God on High,” “Emmanuel” and “What Child is This?”—as well as the hymn we’re memorizing as a church, “Before the Throne.”

Last Sunday, the parking greeters braved the windy 30-degree weather to serve us. Above is Roma Mayo, who has been serving for four years. His dad, Dave, is the Parking Team Leader. This team is a great example of sacrificial service that makes a real difference in everyone’s ability to benefit from our Sunday meetings. Thanks to Roma, Dave and the whole team!
Tomorrow is the second message of our series on the incarnation. Don DeVries will be preaching from Hebrews 2:14-18, and Mike Bradshaw will lead our time of singing. We will also receive the Lord’s Supper together.

Preparing for God’s Word and the Lord’s Supper

Tomorrow we’re gathering to worship the risen Jesus and to remember his death for us through the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper. Please prepare your heart to share the bread and cup with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Jon Smith will be preaching from Ephesians 4: 1-6 on the priority of unity. This is Jon’s second time preaching on a Sunday. I’m so encouraged by the growth and godly passion of this young man.
Speaking of young men, John David Maresco will lead us in singing. Just a reminder, this month we’re working to memorize Amazing Grace. Tomorrow we’re going to put your memorization work to the test on a few verses! Yes, the screen will be blank on several verses. It should be fun. See you then.

Sunday Preview: Ephesians, Part 9
3 CommentsTomorrow I will be preaching from Ephesians 3:14-21 on Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians to be “strengthened with power through [the] Spirit.” Devon Kauflin will be leading our time of singing.
We’re also going to be welcoming about 120 new members who have joined us since last April.

Sunday Preview: Ordination Sunday
0 CommentsSunday we will take a break from our series in Ephesians to celebrate God’s grace in the lives and callings of five pastors. Greg Somerville, Mark Mitchell, Brian Chesemore, Isaac Hydoski and Joe Lee will be ordained. Their ordination is a process modeled on the New Testament pattern of church leadership in which men are called to the ministry by God, and affirmed in that call by existing leaders.
Kenneth Maresco will also share a brief message.
