Sunday Preview: Don’t Waste Your Job

Tomorrow we come together to worship God and learn from His word. Devon Kauflin will be leading us in singing. And Mark Mitchell continues our series with his message titled, “Don’t Waste Your Job,” preaching from Colossians 3:22-25.

Also, the first Sunday of the month, we usually take a few minutes to pray for the work of God in other parts of the world. Tomorrow we will pray for a team from our church about to leave for Central Asia.

See you tomorrow.

Sunday Preview: Don’t Waste Your Kids

Tomorrow morning my dad will preach to the church.  He will be continuing our series with a message titled “Don’t Waste Your Kids” based on Psalm 127, a passage that describes children as “arrows in the hands of a warrior.”

Bob Kauflin will lead us in singing to the Lord tomorrow, and afterward, fittingly, we will be dedicating a total of 24 children in the two services. Child dedications are always a sweet time of celebrating God’s gift to these parents and to our church. See you tomorrow!

Looking Ahead to Sunday

This coming Sunday a young man who grew up in our church, Judah Groveman, will be leading our time of worship in song. Judah is in a band called Zelos and has used his musical gifts to serve the church for many years (the Groveman kids are the ones who form a wonderful string quartet that you’ve probably seen featured on a Sunday or at a wedding or two!)

I’m going to be doing baptisms this Sunday—three Covenant Life members in each service. Come ready to rejoice as they recount the power of the gospel in changing their lives.

Robin Boisvert is sharing a message titled “Don’t Waste Your Vote.” Please leave your Obama or McCain t-shirts at home—as a church we’re not interested in identifying with a political party or a particular candidate. Rather, preaching from Romans 13:1-7, Robin is going to help us all think biblically about our privileges and responsibilities as citizens. Please pray for Robin as he prepares this important message.

See you Sunday!

Sunday Preview: Don’t Waste Your Humor

I’m looking forward to worshiping with you tomorrow morning.

Pastor Mike Bradshaw will be leading our time of singing and our celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Every time we take the bread and cup together in remembrance of our Savior’s death for us is a special privilege. I encourage you to prepare your heart in anticipation of that time—confessing any known sin to the Lord and being reconciled to any brother or sister you’ve sinned against.

Also, C.J. Mahaney will continue the new series we launched last week with a message entitled “Don’t Waste Your…Humor.” C.J. summarizes his message this way:

The Bible is a serious book about serious topics like God, sin, the cross, heaven and hell. But within the pages of Holy Scripture there are humorous references and illustrations. Humor is a gift from God and, when humbly and wisely used, a means of transferring truth and creating joy. Tomorrow’s message will address the appropriate use of humor for the purpose of edifying others and ultimately glorifying God.

There’s no one I know who loves to laugh more than C.J. (and who is more quick to laugh at himself). C.J. really views humor as a gift from God and an opportunity to glorify God. I’ve been talking to C.J. for a number of years about doing a message on humor, and I’m thrilled we’ll finally have the opportunity tomorrow morning to learn from him on this subject.

Have a great Saturday. See you tomorrow!
