Long-time member Steve Wyzga (pictured below with wife Yvonne) wrote to share how God faithfully met him through his time of fasting during our Three-Day Fast and the Worship Night at the end of last month. God is eager to pour out his blessings on those who seek him with all their hearts!
Thank you for more directly exhorting us to a three day fast. I probably would not have done it without your leadership. I was also grateful for the Piper link which I started to read. I especially appreciated his focus of drawing closer to Jesus; it was a very good navigation point.
• As much as I fight fasting, my joy every time I do is a greater sensitivity to God, his greatness and my weakness. It is good to simultaneously humble my soul and hear God more clearly.
• Piper mentions that your sins will become more apparent. I was able to perceive three specific sin areas more accurately and with more conviction.
• Saturday [the Worship Night] was a party! I did not expect that as the theme for worship, but by the third song I felt the Lord saying, “There is a time for fasting. Now the bridegroom is among you. Let the wine flow!” I am so grateful for God’s merciful pouring out of gladness and joy on a beleaguered, weary people.
So yes, I saw new life come into my soul and new life poured out on our church.
Was it worth it? 100x over - yes!
Our God is so quick and gracious to respond to our smallest efforts. How he longs to bless his people!
