ESOL Ministry Training

The ESOL Ministry is hosting teacher training in cooperation with the Mission to North America, a ministry of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). 

Learn to reach out to internationals in our community by building relationships and teaching English.   Thirty-four percent of the people living in Montgomery County were born outside of the United States. Jesus commands us to make disciples of all nations, and in Montgomery County, it’s fair to say that the nations have come to us!

You do not need any teaching experience to serve in this ministry—in fact, our greatest need is for friendly, caring people who can build friendships with our students and show Christ’s love to them.

First-time participants must attend both days. Alumni are invited to attend on Saturday only, if there are slots available, and may attend for a reduced fee. The cost of per person includes a training manual, supplies, and meals and light snacks on both days. Covenant Life Church will subsidize the cost for Covenant Life members.

COST

• Members of Covenant Life Church (first time attending):  $10

• Students from other churches (first time attending):  $50

• Alumni* from Covenant Life Church: $0

• Alumni* from other churches:  $20

*NOTES FOR ALUMNI

• All volunteers who have taken the course in the past may attend the session on Saturday only, if there is space available. 

• All alumni who register will be placed on a waitlist.  Fees paid by Alumni from other churches will be refunded if the training is full.

• A manual will not be provided for Alumni, and they should plan to bring the manual that they received in the training they participated in previously.

MEALS

Pizza & salad dinner will be provided on Friday night; coffee, continental breakfast, and lunch will be served on Saturday. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the training.
