Serving Our Local Community

Wounded Warriors Ministry

The Wounded Warriors Ministry is about thanking men and women of the military for their sacrifice and service to our country by serving a bimonthly luncheon for approximately 100 of the patients, families and staff on the surgical floor of National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Our desire is to let them know that they are not forgotten, and to express in a small way that we are grateful for all they have done.

We provide lunch on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

Here is how it works:

Sign up for a specific Saturday(s) to serve by e-mailing Sheilagh Leo. Our ministry is looking for those ages 17 and up who can commit to serve for one year.

Help prepare food and pack up the luncheon in Covenant Life’s kitchen from 9-10 a.m. on the Saturday(s) you have signed up to serve.

Serve at the hospital up to 4 times during the year. We leave the church around 10 a.m., and return around 1 p.m. This includes set up, serving the luncheon and cleaning up.

Donate $20 per month for the food purchased for the luncheon. You may give by cash or by check (payable to Sheilagh Leo). Please put your donation in a sealed envelope with your name on it, the amount inside, and indicate that it’s for the Wounded Warriors Ministry. Drop off all donations at the receptionist’s desk in the church office on the first Sunday of the month.

For more information, e-mail Sheilagh Leo.
