Choirs

Covenant Life offers a variety of choirs for students in grades 3-12. Singing in choir is an excellent context for growth in musical expression and in devotion to God. Covenant Life School students will continue to participate in choir during the school day and do not need to register for choirs.

The Music Academy Instrumental Ensembles and Choirs will hold a Winter Concert on
Wednesday, December 8 and a Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

New! After-School Choirs

This fall, in addition to CLS Choirs during the school day, we will be bringing back after-school choirs. Having choir once per week worked better for many of your schedules. We also believe it is necessary to divide our choirs in some way to allow for smaller sizes, both for effective choral training and classroom management. Homeschool families will have the option of enrolling their children in either the day school or after-school choirs, depending on what works best for their schedules.

3rd-6th Grade Choir

Students in this choir sing two-part arrangements of both classical and contemporary pieces. We worship the Lord in song and will work together to learn aspects of music theory such as pitch, tone, rhythm and basic solfege. Students in this choir will have the opportunity to perform together with the CLS Choir in our December concert.

Fee: $75 per semester
Time: Thursdays, 3:30–4:30 p.m.

7th-12th Grade Choir

This choir provides 7th-12th grade students an opportunity to sing challenging repertoire in three and four parts. We will hold a brief vocal audition during the first class in order to assign parts and provide balance for the choir. We will spend time teaching sight-singing as well as vocal technique. Students in this choir will perform some songs along with the CLS High School Choir, and will also perform their own repertoire at our December concert.

Fee: $85 per semester

Covenant Life School Choirs

All CLS students in grades 3-10 will participate in one of these choirs. 11th and 12th graders are welcome to join choir as an elective. These fees are included in the CLS tuition.

3rd-5th Grade Choir

Times: Thursdays, 1:10-1:55 p.m.

6th-7th Grade Choir

Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2-3 p.m.

8th-12th Choir:
