Men’s Bible Study on Marriage

Hey Fellas,
At the August Big Meeting, I had mentioned that I wanted to do a Bible study with you men on the topic of marriage.  The point of all this is simple: dig into the Bible together to allow our perspective on marriage & the opposite sex to be shaped by God’s Word.
I want to have open discussions through the Word with you men so we can be equipped in putting our theology into practice in right ways that glorify God & serve the women in our lives who are all deserving of honor.
So here’s the scoop:

When:
Friday September 2, 7:30-9:00 Proverbs 31
Friday October 7, 7:30-9:00 Ephesians 5:22-33

Please rsvp to me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you’re coming.  I can only handle about 25 guys at my place so we’re gonna do a first come, first serve kind of deal.  If there seems to be a big interest in this we might move it to the church so more can come.

Hope you see you guys there.

Soli Deo Gloria,
Hydro

August & September BIG Mtgs - Marriage Series

This week we will be starting a two-part teaching series on Marriage.  Our drive in teaching this subject isn’t to narrowly focus on the ‘how-to’ of relationships for singles, rather the primary purpose of this series is to equip you from God’s Word on the purpose of marriage, to provide you with a clear view of marriage, and to understand the innumerable ways God’s glory is expressed in & through the covenant of marriage.  Simply put we want you to have the end result in view as you consider who you date, court, get engaged or married to.
If we pursue relationships with a narrow goal of getting companionship, having a boyfriend/girlfriend, avoiding sexual sin, or even pursuing relationships with the ultimate goal of getting married we are missing God’s best for us and His purpose for marriage.
We want each of you to be equipped to understand that marriage is about God being glorified through the gospel-proclaiming, gospel-revealing roles He has established within marriage.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there on Tuesday night!

The Call to Serve…

“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”  (Romans 12:11-13 ESV)

God’s Word exhorts us to not be lazy about serving. Instead we are to possess a great intensity and enthusiasm in serving Jesus, who Himself did not come expecting to be served by us, but rather came to serve us through the laying down of His life.  Even in the midst of trials & tribulations that may come our way our zeal in serving God should not be lacking.  I believe serving is a way that reminds us that we aren’t living solely for life now but are to be a people whose lives are focused on Christ and eternity with Him (Colossians 3:1-3). This is how we can experience joy and rejoice regardless of our circumstances as we serve God and others, because our minds are fixed on Christ and the life He brings now & forever.
This exhortation ends with a clear connection of how we can be enthusiastically serving God; contributing to the needs of the saints and showing hospitality.  In a church our size there are innumerable needs amongst our congregation. I’d like to encourage you in light of God’s Word to be serving God by contributing your time, gifts, and energy to meeting the needs of others in our midst?
If you aren’t currently serving consistently on a team go to the Link table this Sunday morning in the church lobby and sign up for a team.  In particular we have great needs for children’s ministry workers to serve in Discovery Land, and people willing to sign up for serving the very large Pastor’s College that is arriving this month.

Please pray through Romans 12:11-13 and consider how God may use you to contribute to the needs of God’s people and glorify God with great enthusiasm & joy! It’s worth it my friends.
