Covenant Life Church

ONE

Who are we?

One is the singles ministry of Covenant Life. We are a community of believers that aims—above all else—to live for Christ, together. We're professionals and students, theologians and missionaries, teachers, entrepreneurs and pastors who have been radically changed by Jesus.

Our desire is to make knowing, enjoying and living for God the passionate pursuit of our lives.

Who leads One?

Isaac Hydoski
Hydro is the guy to whom so many people in this church owe a great debt of gratitude—myself included. He has spent as many hours counseling and discipling in the last five years as most men do in a lifetime. And they say you can't do anything with a degree in photography.
  • Birthplace: Chicago, Ill.
  • Claim-to-fame: Trying to escape from the hospital in one of those less-than-modest gowns after nearly dying
  • Book recommendation: Pierced for Our Transgressions by Ovey, Sach, and Jeffery
Drew Garfield
Drew is one of the most genuinely compassionate guys you'll meet. God has given him a deep concern for the lost and the needy. We're really grateful to God for bringing Drew to our team. He has yet to admit it, but we're pretty sure that Drew only agreed to the job so he can work with his wife about 15 feet away from his desk.
  • Birthplace: Ft. Collins, Colo.
  • Claim-to-fame: A remarkable inability to cope with bad smells
  • Book recommendation: When God Weeps by Joni Eareckson Tada and Steve Estes
Jon Smith
Donkey is by far the most athletic guy on the team—Division 1 College Lacrosse. More than that, though, Jon reads voraciously anything from Piper to Calvin. Ask him about the latest book he has read on missions and you will get a welcomed earful.
  • Birthplace: Winston-Salem, N.C.
  • Claim-to-fame: Making 60 and 50 equal 100
  • Book recommendation: Desiring God by Piper
Braden Greer
Braden brings a balance to the team as he's often more comfortable hanging out with a nerd than a jock. Having a background in science makes it virtually impossible that he and Donkey would have been friends apart from Christ. But the cool thing is that they actually enjoy spending time together. Philippians 2 is really true.
  • Birthplace: Rochester, N.Y.
  • Claim-to-fame: Has spent 40 minutes with his face pressed against cold bathroom tile floors because he ran too hard
  • Book recommendation: The Reason for God by Tim Keller and anything by DA Carson
Melanie Garfield
Mel administrates the lives and schedules of two pastors with excellence: Braden and Isaac. She does this with unflagging joy in her Savior. Like her husband, Drew, she has a love for the lost and the needy and has made several trips overseas just to serve and evangelize. She's not just an administrator--she loves Christ and is a real gift to this team. We can't thank God enough for her.
  • Birthplace: D.C.
Christy Sullivan
Christy makes sure that Jon and Drew are free to give themselves to praying, reading, dreaming big dreams and caring for God's people. She is gifted beyond what we pay her, but she loves this church and wants the fame of Jesus Christ spread in our county and beyond.
  • Birthplace: Silver Spring, Md.

What does One do?

Events

Check out the events to see what the One ministry is doing on any given day. You'll find opportunities to serve in and out of the church and to get to know the members of the One ministry.

Starting Point

Church membership? What's that? Do we still do that in the 21st century? Starting Point is the place that answers this question. If you believe God is calling you to be a part of what God is doing through this community come out to Starting Point this Sunday. Click here to check it out.

Sunday Morning

This is the highlight of our week as we gather together as a family to worship God. We have two meetings: 9am & 11:30am. There's a guest reception after each one that you should check out. Come join us!

Big Meeting

At the Big Meeting Isaac, Jon and Braden take over Care Group for a night and we talk about the Bible and other things pertaining to our life as a singles ministry. This happens every fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:45pm (dinner @ 6:30pm) at the church building.

Care Group

Since the beginning of Covenant Life Church, small groups have been one of the most important aspects of church life. It's where we can exhort each other to follow Jesus and keep him central. Care Groups are for members of Covenant Life, so if you want to get involved check out Starting Point right away.
