The gospel proclaims that we are not abandoned as orphans but are adopted as sons and daughters who are loved, received and cherished by God the Father. Therefore, in the midst of our battles with our heart and sin, the cry of our heart is, "Abba! Father!" Because of our adoption into God's family, the mission of the church is to help, support, serve and care for orphans in various ways.
