Of the roughly two billion people in the world who identify themselves as Christians, though there are differences, virtually all would say that Jesus Christ is central to their faith. Without the life, teaching, and mighty works of Jesus of Nazareth, there would be no Christianity, no Christian religion, no church.

We learn about the amazing person of Christ primarily from the Gospel accounts that begin the New Testament. Matthew, the first Gospel, was written to answer the question, “Who is Jesus?”

Over the coming months we’ll work our way carefully through Jesus’ story, surveying the beginnings of the Christian faith and taking an extended look at the person of Jesus. Let’s pray that God will use the series to help us all see him with fresh perspective and faith.
