2019 Youth Spring Musical

Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, Godspell is one of the most successful musicals in history. It present a whimsical view of Jesus, his followers and disciples, who reenact parables and scenes from Jesus' life with great energy. The rock musical was an immediate hit when it opened in the spring of 1971 at an off-Broadway theatre. Ticket sales were brisk for three years. Between 1971 and 1973, productions opened in Los Angeles, London, Paris, Washington, D.C., Toronto, San Francisco, Melbourne, Sydney, Hamburg, and Berlin.

The concept of this year's production of Godspell is that it takes place in a school costume/prop shop that operates as a gathering place for all students. All of the twelve disciples come from a certain clique in the school, representing how Jesus calls all people from different walks of life to follow him. With a simple set, and access to different props and costumes, we hope to create an atmosphere of creativity and community.

We hope that as you watch this show, you better understand Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Additionally, we pray that you join our community of believers as we seek to walk the Christian life together. Thank you for attending this year’s production of Godspell.
