Spiritual Health during a Health Crisis

The COVID-19 outbreak in Maryland has radically changed our lives and those of our neighbors. Children are home from school. Movie theaters and restaurants are closed. Churches are meeting online rather than in buildings. And no one knows exactly how long this new "normal" will last. Except One.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:11-13

We hope the resources on this page offer you, your family, and your neighbors true hope and practical help as you wait on the Lord during this challenging time.

4. WORSHIP RESOURCES

A message from Ben Keeler regarding worship:

What an opportunity we have in these coming days to, as 1 Chronicles 16:11 says, ‘Seek the Lord, and His strength, seek His presence continually!” Let’s be a people that SING in the midst of the uncertainty and isolation of this season as we seek God’s strength and presence.

We will include a setlist for each Sunday that we can sing “together”.  We’ll include chord charts for the musicians who can lead your in-home gatherings. (All charts are in G so for you guitarists, just slap a capo on for the key that best suits your gathering!)

If simply listening to the recordings and singing along would serve you better, we’ll include a Spotify playlist and Apple Music Playlist as well.

5. RIGHTNOW MEDIA

Government + Community Resources

Trusted Information from Medical Experts and
Civic Leaders

We are regularly monitoring guidelines from local, state and federal government agencies. We will continue to track and follow these guidelines as they are updated in the days ahead. We also encourage you to stay informed on the latest guidelines from reliable sources like the ones shown in the sidebar.

Dave Wilcox, Director of Operations, is directly coordinating with local community response organizations to stay informed and networked. He is also coordinating with other church leaders as the broader church prepares and responds to the situation as it develops.

Pray + Serve

PRAY

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer is the greatest way the church can serve at this time.  Use this 7-day prayer guide to inform your prayers. It’s formatted in a printer-friendly way, so you can post it on the fridge or by your computer. If you'd like to pray with others, join a weekly Zoom Prayer Call any Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Also, our prayer team is ready to pray specifically for you. Let us know how we can pray by filling out this form.

SERVE

'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it for me.' – Matthew 25:40

Looking for ways to serve the vulnerable in our community?

Kids + Teens

FOR KIDS

A message from LeAnne Keeler:

Can we all just pause a moment and thank the Lord for the fabulous group of Discovery Land volunteers He has blessed us with?  Over the next few weeks our appreciation for these gems is going to grow!  We want you to know that we have scoured (okay, maybe “perused”) the Internet looking for fantastic resources so you can lead your little ones during this time.  The first is our curriculum that we use on Sundays called The Gospel Project.  The kids are very familiar with this and a bit of “normalcy” might be just what they need.  You will need to set up a Lifeway account to access the lessons, but it’s quick and painless.

Steps to set up a Lifeway account:

  1. Go to MyLifeway.com.
  2. Register if you are a new user or log in if you already have an account.
  3. Enter this redemption code: VZMD4SSQ38.
  4. Click "Access" (if prompted to sign in again, sign in) and then go to LifeWay Kids at Home.
  5. Download your Activity Page and One Conversation Sheet to use as you watch the video session.

Check out the links in the sidebar for other great content for families.

FOR TEENS

High school discipleship groups will continue to meet virtually on a regular basis. The youth ministry is also going through the book of Mark by using RightNow Media (instructions to access below) and Instagram. Questions for each session are being posted daily on Instagram, so be sure to follow us. Send an email to Andi Alonso if you’re not on our weekly list.
