A Letter of Encouragement

Shortly after the Rebelution conference, I received a letter from a pastor in Michigan who had brought several teenagers from his church to attend the conference. His letter was full of encouragement, but I was most affected by his gratefulness for the hospitality he received from members of our church. Here is an excerpt:

I just had a wonderful weekend at your church and I wanted to share some of my joy with you….On Saturday we awoke and made our way to Covenant Life Church for The Rebelution. We were welcomed by friendly young people that were helpful and the kids and I were blown away by them….[On Sunday] we awoke and packed up and pulled into Covenant Life Church for the 9:00 AM service. Again, we were warmly greeted. As I filed the students into the sanctuary and got them seated a very nice lady approached us. Her name was Karen Duberstein. I talked with her about 5 minutes and ended up being invited to visit with her and her husband if my family ever comes through. This is what I love to see as a pastor. Members of the church working as part of the body of Christ. Ultimately, I am writing this email to encourage you and your pastoral staff…I will continue to pray for your church family. Thank you for joyfully serving me and my students as we visited. We felt very much at home.
