Clash Update

Last week, many students from Covenant Life attended “The Clash,” a worldview camp Sovereign Grace Ministries does for college students. Pastor Greg Somerville attended as a counselor. I asked him for a brief report, and he writes:

“The Clash” was truly a mountaintop experience. Over 160 young people gathered at Messiah College in Grantham, PA for an intensive week of worldview studies. What an honor it was to learn about theology, philosophy, science, and current events from Jeff Purswell, D.A. Carson, Nathan Sasser and Ian Duguid—men known for their prodigious intellect and passionate faith. More significant to me, though, was the prodigious appetite these young people from Sovereign Grace churches across the country had for God!

Despite a grueling schedule and little sleep, these students engaged in deep discussion, wrestled with the implications of truth, initiated late-night times of worship and ministry, and forged deep friendships. Young men exemplified biblical leadership; young women exemplified biblical femininity. Everywhere you looked, God¹s grace was evident. I am humbled that God would allow me to experience “The Clash” with my three oldest children—and excited about the impact this conference will have for years to come!

Hearing Greg’s report, I am all the more looking forward to Jeff Purswell’s message this Sunday, “Don’t Waste Your Mind.” Jeff will be touching on some of the subjects shared at “The Clash.”
