Ephesians, Part 19: Application
2 Comments
Bob Kauflin taught us well yesterday with his message on being “wise, Spirit-filled Christians.” Preaching from Ephesians 5:15-21, he exhorted us to sing to others and to the Lord, to give thanks with others through the Lord, and to submit to others because of the Lord.
You can listen online or download the message here.
Application questions:
1. Ephesians 5:19 teaches us that Spirit-filled singing is “to the Lord,” “with all your heart” and to “one another.” Is this how you view singing with other Christians? Do you come to Sunday mornings expectant, not wanting to miss a moment of Spirit-filled singing to others and to the Lord? If not, how can you begin to cultivate that attitude?
2. Ephesians 5:20 exhorts Spirit-filled believers to “[give] thanks always and for everything.” We are called to regularly give thanks to God that his sovereign hand controls all our circumstances and situations. Does this kind of thanksgiving characterize your life? Where can you grow in gratefulness to God?
3. Ephesians 5:21 calls wise, Spirit-filled Christians to submit to those whom God has placed in authority over us. Are you humbly submitted to those God has placed in your life? If not, in what ways do you need to repent and begin to obey God’s word?

Wow!! Bob’s teaching was given with such deep love and passion for the Lord, as well as, great humility. It was awe inspiring. Bob’s passionate delivery of God’s words gave me much ‘food’ for nourishing my walk with and for the Lord. I have always enjoyed and received much insight into God’s words through Bob’s teachings, but never to such an intense degree as this Sunday. As I listened, and was gripped by his words, and his manner of delivery, I was reminded of another great, humble, and passionate teacher. I turned to my husband and said “Doesn’t Bob remind you of C.J.?” He readily agreed. Looking forward to many more of Bob’s all inspiring teachings. Diana Hadesty
