Praying for the UK

Jeff Purswell led us this past Sunday in praying for the United Kingdom (UK). To inform your ongoing prayers, we’ve posted video (above) with his comments and prayer as well as information (below) on the three Sovereign Grace churches in the UK.

The United Kingdom is a unitary state consisting of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. England comprises the largest part of both the UK and the island of Great Britain. Sovereign Grace Ministries currently has three churches in the UK: Grace Church Bristol in England, Christchurch in Newport, Wales, and Sovereign Grace Church Merthyr in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. The churches are led by senior pastors Nathan Smith, Pete Greasley and Gareth Lloyd, respectively.

Pete Greasley is responsible for international church planting and care on behalf of Sovereign Grace Ministries in Australia, Germany, Africa, India, Sri Lanka and the UK. Supported by Sovereign Grace and Dave Harvey, earlier this month Pete’s church hosted the inaugural [CO]MISSION UK conference to equip church planters and others who are called to ministry.

Also this year, Pete, Christchurch and Sovereign Grace Ministries sent out Dave Taylor, who interned under Pete at Christchurch and then went on to serve as the church’s executive pastor, to plant Sovereign Grace Church Sydney, the first Sovereign Grace church in Australia!

Pray…

• for revival in the UK—for the large nominally Christian population to be truly born again to a living hope in Christ.
• for all three Sovereign Grace churches, that God would shower their ministry with favor and bring many to salvation.
• for the three senior pastors—Pete Greasley, Nathan Smith, and Gareth Lloyd—as they preach God’s Word and lead their churches.
• that God would protect the UK, and England in particular, from terrorist threats, especially the large public places of London.
• for families, elderly and others who are being affected by hard economic times, government budget cuts and higher taxes.

Guys

Just wanted to express my/our thanks for kindly praying for us this past weekend.

We count it such a joy to partner in the gospel with folk such as yourselves and you have been such a source of blessing to many of us here in the UK.

What a gracious Saviour we serve who allows us to enjoy and to declare the greatness of this incredible gospel and how kind of our Lord to give us friends and co-labourers such as yourselves.

We pray you continue to enjoy God’s abundant grace and provision in all that He has called you to do.

Grace to you all

Thank you for your prayers for my home country. Thank you for your gratitude for the things given in the past and for your care for today.
