The Call to Servanthood: Application
0 Comments
Yesterday Chris Silard brought a wonderful and convicting message from Philippians 2:1-8, teaching that “The life of Christ in us should produce humble servanthood among us.”
You can listen online or download the message here.
Application Questions:
1. What are some ways that you see humble servanthood in your family, in your care group and in the church? Make a point this week to encourage these people with what you see.
2. According to Phil. 2:3, one hindrance to humble servanthood is “rivalry or conceit,” which Chris described as pursuing our own interests at the expense of others. Where do you see this self-promoting pride in your life? What can you do specifically to repent of pride and cultivate humility?
3. Phil. 2:4 lists another hindrance to humble servanthood: “me only,” in which we live so focused on our own busy lives that we are unaware of the needs of others. Has this been a hindrance to humble servanthood in your life? What specific things can you do to “look…to the interests of others”?
4. In Phil. 2:5-8, Paul teaches that the co-eternal, co-equal Son of God veiled His glory in ordinary human weakness and embraced the Cross. What specific steps can you take to emulate Jesus’ humility and grow in humble servanthood in your home, in the church and among unbelievers around you?
