Our god Reigns

Our God Reigns

While the nations rage, we will trust in the Lord Our God

He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what is hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light" (Daniel 2:21-22, NLT).

As Election Day draws near, the nation is pressed to pick a side. Political campaigns curry favor. Pundits inflame fear. Yard signs pop up in our neighborhoods and propaganda in our news feeds. The world is shouting for our allegiance.

Into the cacophony we will proclaim one thing louder than any other: our God reigns. This is the truth our hearts need to hear. It’s the truth the world needs to hear. And it’s the central theme of the book of Daniel.

Daniel tells the story of the power of God in the lives of his people in a world gone mad. It shows us the sovereignty of God over human authorities and the role of God's people in the midst of an unbelieving society. It calls us to prayerful dependence on God in dire circumstances and courageous allegiance to God in the face of opposition. It points us to a future that’s sure, when God will one day fully extend his perfect justice.

While the nations rage, we will trust in the Lord our God.
