Contact

Feel free to contact Corinne Glab (cglab@covlife.org) if you have administrative questions about Worthy 2017.

Transportation

The church will not be providing transportation to or from the retreat. If you are unable to secure transportation, please contact your Team Leader, who can assist you in finding a ride. We will let you know your team leader by the first week of August.

Please note we will be taking one of the church buses (seats 15) to NorthBay. It will leave the church on Thursday the 17th at noon and return to the church on Sunday the 20th at 3 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served and must be reserved ahead of time by emailing Corinne (cglab@covlife.org).

Rooming

NorthBay’s accommodations are spacious, comfortable, air-conditioned cabins. Each cabin has two large rooms with a separate bathroom. Each side of the cabin has six bunks which fit 12 people, and can comfortably fit a few additional people on the floor. Our administrative staff will place people in cabins. If you have a situation where you only know one or two people coming to the retreat and would like to make sure you room with them, please let us know by emailing Corinne (cglab@covlife.org).

Scholarships

Scholarships are available. We would love to assist you if you need financial help! To apply, please send an email to worthyscholarships@covlife.org with answers to the following:

  • How much are you (parents or youth) able to afford?
  • How many total from your family will be attending?
  • Provide a 100-word response as to why you want to attend Worthy 2017 (written by the youth).

FAQ

What is the schedule?

From the moment you arrive, you will have a busy and full schedule. You WILL be tired after this retreat! We have main sessions (worship and teaching) in the mornings and evenings with games, activities, and free time to do the activities, all afternoon.

When do we need to arrive?

Check-in is on Thursday, August 17, from 2 - 6 p.m. The main session starts that night at 7:30 p.m.

When do we leave?

The retreat ends on Sunday, August 20, at 11:30 a.m. We will not eat lunch at NorthBay, and will be on our way home as soon as the main session ends and you are packed up.

How do I get to NorthBay? Where can I find directions?

NorthBay’s address is: 11 Horseshoe Point Lane North East, MD 21901. You can also visit their directions page for more info.

What are the cabins like?

See for yourself!

Do I have to participate in everything?

Yes! If you aren’t able to participate for some reason (e.g., injury, illness, etc.), please contact an admin or an adult.

Who are "admin" and what do they do?

The admin team is a group of young adults who serve the youth ministry by administrating all of our events. They will be the ones with “Admin” T-shirts running around the grounds getting things ready for you to enjoy. Ask them any and all questions. They are there to serve you!

Is scholarship money available, and how do I apply for a scholarship?

We have $89, $139, and $189 scholarships available and would definitely love to help you all out! To apply for a scholarship, please send an e-mail to worthyscholarships@covlife.org with answers to the following:

  • How much are you (parents or youth) able to afford?
  • How many total from your family are attending?
  • Please also provide a 100 word response on why you want to attend Worthy2017 (written by the youth).

Are day packages or partial packages available?

Day packages will be available again this year. You can purchase a Day Package for $75. Day Passes include access to the day’s sessions and games, the Adventure activities, all meals, a t-shirt, wristband, and booklet. They do not cover an overnight stay, so please do not plan on staying the night at NorthBay. Day Passes can only be purchased for Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19, and are not negotiable.

Partial packages are not available because NorthBay does not accommodate them. However, you can arrange to split a registration with another parent of the same gender (i.e., two moms or two dads split the retreat costs and go for half the time). We cannot split registrations between a couple due to rooming complications. You will need to coordinate with that parent, split finances, and inform Corinne of your final decision.

In addition, we are able to provide a limited number of Session Passes (first come, first served), which allow parents to attend one or both sessions on a given day if they aren’t able to participate otherwise. Session Passes do not include food or any of the activities that NorthBay provides (zip line, rope course, etc.), but they do allow you to be on the property and participate in one or both sessions. Session Passes are $25 each.

When is ministry night?

Saturday, August 19

What if I have a unique rooming request?

Please contact Corinne with any rooming requests. We do not have much flexibility in our rooming options, but we will do our best to help meet your needs so that you can have a comfortable stay.

What are the expectations for parents?

Everything we do as a ministry is meant to support our belief that parents are the primary disciplers in the lives of their children. Therefore, we would encourage each and every parent to fully participate in everything Worthy has to offer! If the games aren’t your preference, feel free to grab some shade and watch!

Where can I find additional copies of the Parental Permission form and NorthBay Release form?

Right here:

Am I allowed to leave the grounds during the retreat?

Teens, no. Adults, yes.

Are we allowed to swim?

There is a pool, but we told NorthBay that we will not be needing it because there are so many other things to do! There are water sports in the bay (zip line, boats, kayaks, etc.). If you are planning to use these, please plan on wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

What if I have a food allergy?

Please contact Corinne to let her know the specific foods to which you are allergic. We will contact NorthBay and make sure your meals are planned accordingly.

Can I bring my own snacks?

Yes. NorthBay also has a snack bar loaded with drinks, candy, ice cream and more. Just make sure to bring cash if you want to get anything!

Is WIFI available for parents who need to work or check e-mail?

Yes. But it is not reliable.

Is there cell phone coverage?

Yes.
