How does a 21st century student of the Word preacher learn to navigate, interpret, and then teach preach ancient Prophetic Literature? How can these culturally bound oracles and speeches apply to today’s various world cultures? . In this Prophetic Literature unit, there are five three lessons and our instructors are Paul House (Professor of Divinity and Old Testament at Beeson Divinity School) and Barry Webb (Senior Research Fellow of Old Testament at Moore Theological College in Sydney, Australia).
Welcome Hebrew Poetry and Wisdom Literature unit. In this first lesson, David Jackman (retired President of the Proclamation Trust in London, England) explores the basics of handling Old Testament poetry.
In this lesson, Barry Webb (Senior Research Fellow of Old Testament at Moore Theological College in Sydney, Australia) addresses some of the major themes found in the Major Prophets.
In this lesson, Paul House (Professor of Divinity and Old Testament at Beeson Divinity School) takes a look at Amos and works through a method for finding the themes for the book.
