Smyth on May 15, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett told the church "we simply have to do more" to engage the needs in our community. “In a place like this, where you have such a beautiful congregation, if you can't do it here at Covenant, where can we do it in America? You have the capacity, you have the leadership, you have the Spirit, you have the love of Jesus Christ working on behalf of you and with you ... I think you can do it."
