Sharing the Gospel with Not-Yet-Believers

Make Disciples, Part 3 | May 3

Prayer Points:

  • Ask God to raise up workers for the global mission. (Luke 10:2)
  • Pray for God to give us courage and boldness to speak the gospel clearly. (Colossians 4:3-4)
  • Pray for one or two of our local or global mission partners.
  • Ask God to open more doors among refugee communities in our area.
  • Ask God to give you specific opportunities this week to speak the word of Christ. (Romans 10:14-17)

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

– Romans 10:13-15

In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”

– Romans 15:17-21

Relational Discipleship: Fellowship and Family

Make Disciples, Part 2 | May 2, 2024

Prayer Points:

  • Thank God that we are never alone. Jesus promised that he would always be with us, and knowing him includes being a part of God’s family.
  • Ask God to help us think deeply about how to motivate each other to grow in loving God and others, and in stepping toward all the good things he wants us to do.
  • Ask God to deepen your conviction to consistently prioritize meeting together with other believers, looking for ways to encourage each other with our eyes on eternity.
  • Pray for parents to point their children to know Christ by knowing and obeying Christ themselves, showing the next generation what it looks like to love God with all they’ve got!
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to fill parents and lead them to teach their children God’s Word and God’s ways – diligently, little by little, throughout the day, wherever we are, as it fits the occasion, over and over.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:24-25

Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules (just decrees) —that the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, ... that you may fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6:1-9

Personal Discipleship: Following Jesus

Make Disciples, Part 1 | May 1, 2024

Prayer Points:

  • Give thanks to God that he invited you to follow him.
  • Pray for one area of your own walk with God where you want to grow in obeying him.
  • Pray for growth in taking hold of one of the means of grace: reading the Bible, praying, fellowship, or worship.
  • Pray for someone you know who is struggling to walk in obedience to Jesus.
  • Pray that our church would be a people who increasingly demonstate Christlikeness as we follow him.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

1 Timothy 4:7-8

Serving One Another with Our Gifts

Love One Another, Part 2 | April 30, 2024

Prayer Points:

  • Thank the Lord for the many ways you've been blessed and loved by others.
  • Ask the Spirit to show you who you could serve and love.
  • Pray that God continues to help you love without grumbling, growing in hospitality toward all.
  • Pray that God leads you to use your unique gifts to bless the church.
  • Thank the Lord for his great love toward us in salvation.

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:7-11

Unity in the Gospel

Love One Another, Part 1 | April 29

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for a strong unity based on the gospel, so that the world will see Jesus in us.
  • Pray for unity in spite of our different backgrounds, cultures, opinions, and beliefs.
  • As we enter the election cycle this year, pray for those who have different political views.
  • Pray for unity among the elders and leaders of our church.
  • Pray for unity within the families of our church.

“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me."

John 17:20-23

Pray the Mission

Spring Week of Prayer | April 29 – May 3

As a family on a mission, our goal is to worship God, love one another, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. This mission comes directly from our Savior’s great commandments and great commission.

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:37-39

And also, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

While our mission is not complicated, it is impossible without the help of the Spirit. Thankfully, Christ not only gives us this mission, he also promises to give us the power to fulfill it.

During the spring week of prayer, themed “Pray the Mission,” we will ask God to guide us with his wisdom and fill us with his power to keep his commandments and fulfill his commission. Each day you will find a new video encouragement from one of the pastors and a guide to pray together for our mission as a church.

The topics for prayer are:

  • Love One Another
    • Monday, April 29 – Unity in the Church
    • Tuesday, April 30 – Serving One Another
  • Make Disciples
    • Wednesday, May 1 – Following Jesus Personally
    • Thursday, May 2 – Fellowship and Family
    • Friday, May 3 – Sharing the Gospel with Not-Yet-Believers

Then, on the evening of Friday May 3rd, after the week of private prayer, we will gather corporately for a Worship Night at 7:00pm in the South Lobby that will focus on God’s holiness, power, wisdom, love, and faithfulness. Songs of praise to our God will be punctuated by scripture readings and times of prayer with and for each other. We believe that this week of prayer and worship will lead to greater gospel effectiveness in our church and community, and we encourage you to join with us in seeking God for power to fulfill our mission together.
