Faith Ruei: An Immigrant’s Journey and Service

Date:

How do people who immigrate to the United States with limited English skills fare in their day-to-day? As a young immigrant, Faith Ruei faced many struggles because of the language barrier, socially, economically, and emotionally. Her journey took a turning point when her friend pointed her to ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes. These classes helped her gain more skills, confidence, and a determination to help others in need. Will you help? Many of our Gaithersburg neighbors are immigrants who do not have the necessary language skills, and therefore, opportunities. Sign up to volunteer! Covenant Life Church serves the community at South Lake Elementary School providing ESOL classes and Joy Club, which is a space kids to also learn and have fun.

For more information on ESOL classes and volunteering, visit the ESOL webpage.
